Kelly Clarkson has spoken out about an uncomfortable shopping experience at a Brooklyn store, comparing the encounter to a memorable scene from the movie Pretty Woman.
In an October 10 social media post, the singer and television host described visiting Art of Play, a specialty store in Brooklyn, New York. Clarkson said she intended to purchase several items but felt dismissed by a male employee who suggested looking for something comparable instead.
The interaction reminded Clarkson of the 1990 film Pretty Woman, in which Julia Roberts’ character receives dismissive treatment while shopping at an upscale boutique.
Clarkson expressed frustration with the experience, saying the store had missed out on a substantial sale because of the employee’s behavior.
The business offered a different explanation, stating that the item Clarkson wanted was part of a permanent display and was not available for purchase.
Clarkson disputed that account and maintained that the interaction had been disrespectful.
The public exchange drew attention online, with the singer and the store presenting different accounts of what happened.
